Location: 8 km. south of Oaxaca City.
Facilities: The airport has a small restaurant,
a few
souvenir shops, a bar, and several rental
car agencies.
The State of Oaxaca has airports in four
cities: Oaxaca (OAX), Puerto Escondido
(PXM), Huatulco (HUX), and Ixtepec
(IZT). There is currently no non-stop international
air service to Oaxaca City. Visitors
normally arrive via connections made in
Mexico City via both Mexicana Airlines
and AeroMexico, and AeroCaribe. From
Oaxaca City there is also service to
CancÒn, Villahermosa, Tuxtla-Gutierrez,
Merida, Tapachula, Acapulco, Palenque,
Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, and Tikal.
This allows vacationers to easily connect
Oaxaca hotels with a beach vacation, or with
Mÿxico's archaeologically-rich southern
States of Chiapas, Tabasco, Yucatan and
Quintana Roo.
Visitors bound for Puerto Escondido or
Huatulco may fly direct from Mexico City,
although non-stops are also available from
Oaxaca City to either resort. The drive
from Mexico City via the new toll road
takes 5 hours. |
